Biography

Caspar Schjelbred (b. 1979, Denmark) grew up in Sweden and moved to Paris in 1999. He began improvising in 2001 with the Anglophone troupe The Improfessionals, only a year after taking his first acting classes.

In 2006, he started teaching and soon became co-director of Impro Academy Paris. The following year, he earned a Master’s degree in History of Science from the Sorbonne, specialising in the psychology of emotions. His artistic path took a decisive turn in 2008 when he began training with Ira Seidenstein, renowned clown master and director, which deepened his commitment to physical acting.

From 2008 to 2014, Caspar served as artistic director of The Improfessionals while developing his own approach to improvisation. In 2010, he founded Impro Supreme, his teaching and performance brand. Two years later, he launched his solo show Plan C, which toured internationally and was last presented in 2023 at the International Mime Festival in Colombia.

Alongside improvisation, Caspar has explored scripted theatre, most notably in two Samuel Beckett plays staged in Luxembourg (2016–2017), as well as appearances in music videos. In 2018, he directed the physical comedy show AVANT-GARDE with HaHaHa Impro Theatre in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Since 2020, Caspar’s primary focus has been teaching and coaching — helping both performers and professionals connect body, imagination, and presence in their work.
