Biography
Caspar Schjelbred was born in Denmark (1979), raised in Sweden, and moved to Paris in 1999.
His first public performance was with the Anglophone improv troupe The Improfessionals in 2001, only a year after he took his first acting and improv classes.
In 2006, he started teaching and quickly became co-director of Impro Academy Paris alongside Florian Bartsch.
He graduated from the Sorbonne University in 2007 with a Master’s in History of Science, specialised in the psychological study of emotions.
In 2008, Caspar met his soon-to-be mentor, Ira Seidenstein, a world-class director and clown master. After that, he doubled down on physical acting.
At the same time, he became the artistic director of The Improfessionals, a role he held until 2014.
He founded his own teaching brand, Impro Supreme, in 2010.
In 2012, Caspar started performing solo and took his more or less improvised show Plan C on a tour Down Under in 2016. The last presentation was in 2023 at an international mime festival in Colombia.
He occasionally does scripted work as well. His most recent appearance on stage was in two short plays by Samuel Beckett with The Story In Motion Project in Luxembourg (2016/2017). He has also acted in numerous music videos.
In 2018, Caspar directed AVANT-GARDE, a physical comedy show he created with his friends in HaHaHa Impro Theatre in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Since 2020, his primary focus has been on teaching and coaching.
